History

History of DeCordova Bend Estates Owners Association
In 1969, Texlan Corporation had a dream of providing a weekend retreat for north Texans and began platting 1,651 lots on 855 acres along the shores of Lake Granbury. As week enders began enjoying the use of the 9-hole golf course and the clubhouse, it became apparent that this would be an attractive place to live full time.

By 1972, the area became the community we know as DCBE. Governed by an Owner’s Association with rules designed for the safety, security and serenity of the neighborhood, the owners share in the cost of operating the amenities available today.

DCBE has approximately 26 miles of roads, 1,500 homes, condominiums and town homes. There is a marina with two covered docks and 74 boat slips, two lighted tennis courts, a fitness center, a four space RV park, swimming pool, poolside deli, golf driving range, an 18 hole championship golf course and a nine hole par 3 course.

In early 2000, residents of DCBE elected to form an incorporated city. While the members of the owners association own the amenities and streets, the City of DeCordova does not tax its residents, allowing an affordable place to live, work and play; for example, saving $550 a year in property tax on a $150,000 home.
